Monday the 8th of March

Walking in the cold but sunny day.Hi everyone.

Today was our first day at Zespół Szkół Nr 2 im. Eugeniusza Kwiatkowskiego. We had to wake up at 7.00 am and when we arrived we had a tour around the school where we looked into different classrooms. We also met Joanna, the head teacher. After that we went back to our classroom where Sveinbjörg and Sigríður rehearsed their presentation for the opening ceremony. After rehearsing we had lunch at a cafeteria near the school.  The food was quite new for us but very tasty.

Next on the program was the welcoming ceremony where the mayor and some important guests from the school authorities were present. During the ceremony some speeches were made and the Icelandic group presented the school and the mayor with mementos from Iceland and we all got the awesome t-shirts with the Icelandic wool sweater look. The licorice factory in Höfn supplied the group with sweets which were offered at the welcoming ceremony. It is much appreciated.

After school some of us went to the mall for shopping and some r&r after a busy day.

Sunday the 7th of March

Checking in at the airport in KeflavíkToday we woke up around 4 am, had breakfast, packed up our things and headed to the international airport in Keflavík, Flugstöð Leifs Eiríkssonar. We waited there for a little while and then headed to the airplane. Three and a half hours later we landed in Frankfurt, Germany. There we waited for about six hours. We killed time by walking around, eating, playing cards, listening to music and shopping. While some bought coffee at Starbucks, others bought glasses and drinking cups of inappropriate shapes and sizes.

Finally, when it was our time to go, we went to the second airplane, when everybody got through airport security, where unfortunately some people had to say goodbye to expensive beauty products. An hour and half later we landed in Krakow, Poland. When we went to look for Anna, who was going to pick us up and take us to Dębica, when to our surprise we saw eleven other familiar faces that had decided to surprise us at the airport. We all got to the bus, although some people almost decided to blow us off and get on the wrong bus, we drove for more than two hours to Dębica, where family members were waiting to take us to ten different homes.

Seventeen  hours, two airplanes, three airports and one bus ride over. Oh the joy of falling a sleep ...zzzzz..
